Course Description: Course participants will learn creative ways to engage their students in health education lessons in order to develop health literacy skills.

Stage 1 - Desired Results: Enduring Understanding(s) & Essentials Question(s): EUs Students are motivated and learn best through authentic and relevant learning activities. Kinesthetic learning activities involve students doing or experiencing the learning, increasing enjoyment of the academic experience and increasing retention of information. A skills-based approach to teaching health is more effective than teaching knowledge alone, and more effective in the achievement and sustaining of behavior change. EQs How do I increase engagement in learning health literacy skills?

Stage 1 - Desired Results: Knowledge & Skills 1) Participants will apply the skills-based approach model to teaching health skills. 2) Participants will develop health lessons which incorporate kinesthetic learning activities. 3) Participants will identify best instructional practices for teaching health literacy.

Stage 2 - Assessment Evidence: 1) Participants will create engaging health education lessons incorporating best instructional practices and interactive learning experiences. 2) Participants will create a learning environment which helps promote more engagement.
