Course Description: The purpose of this class is to help teachers think about and acquire new strategies to help students develop perseverance by encouraging passion and curiosity, teaching self-control, self-respect, respect for others, and learning how to downplay negativity. The ultimate end goal is for students to develop self confidence and strategies for a successful life.

Stage 1 - Desired Results: Knowledge & Skills Teachers will develop an understanding of grit and the importance of encouraging it in the classroom. Teachers will identify how passion, curiosity, and self reflection will help students downplay negativity and deal with setbacks. Teachers will guide students in decision making and action plans.

Stage 2 - Assessment Evidence: Teachers will read the course text, write reflections and create plans for implementing strategies in the classroom to assist students.
